I love this time of the year! Warm breezes brush your face, the trees and grounds begin to sprout life again. I look forward to lots of playground time with James and in general just getting out and walking! One of the big highlights of Spring though is all the festivals dedicated to flowers!
The Cherry Blossom Festival
(http://www.nationalcherryblossomfestival.org/cms/index.php?id=390) in DC for example. Its a madhouse trying to get down and see them. They reccomend early morning if you are going to make the attempt. This season they are proported to be in bloom march 27-April 6 or so.....
Can't forget Orchids! They are a couple great places to go see these but I reccomend Longwood Gardens (http://www.longwoodgardens.org/) which also happens to have an amazing Childrens Garden with fun water spouts and touchable flowers!
or Hillwood Estate, Museum and garden (http://www.hillwoodmuseum.org/) which has classes in March for how to take care of your Orchids...Wow
Then you have the Azalea gardens at the National Arboretum (http://www.usna.usda.gov/Gardens/collections/azaleablossom.html#) . This is one of my all time favorites. April 23-30 is what they are expecting for Peak Bloom!!!
Woot! Too much to do and not nearly enough time to go do it all!! Lucky for me there is always next year!
