Sorry it has been a few weeks. I will be posting some pictures in just a few but for the moment I'll write.
I have been home for 2.5 weeks, taking it easy, doing bits here and there and quickly realizing that I shouldn't be. My midwives scolded me yesterday and told me to be extra careful and seriously, take it easy! So, I am on continued bedrest for the moment. Next check-up is in 2 weeks (I'll be 37weeks) and we'll go from there.
At the appointment yesterday I was finally up in weight! Hee hee, I am now 15lbs up this pregnancy ..... that still seems so weird but I am just glad the little booger in me is doing so well! Hates having his heart monitored, took 2 midwives 10 minutes to finally get it, and even then it was a reflection of the heartbeat thru the placenta. All the while he is rolling, kicking, avoiding getting a good read - just like his older brother Nathan did, sheesh. Its hard to imagine at 35 weeks that babe has many places to hide but... they do.
Oh, speaking of 'he', apparently there is no notation from the ultrasounds in my midwives paperwork stating 'boy'. The midwife I saw actually said something about girl .... what? Sigh, I'm happy with healthy but if this was a girl it would explain a lot. The fact that I saw male parts in not one, but 2 ultrasounds, makes me skeptical but ok. We have names ready for a girl or boy just in case :)
So baby has a solid heartbeat at 140. Measuring just a bit ahead in fundal height, but nothing to be worried about. All my levels look good - thyroid, sugars, iron, etc. Yay! Did the test for GBS yesterday - will have results back later this week. I'll admit, this is the one I am worried about. I was positive with Nathan and due to stubbornness/timing/you name it, his birth turned into quite an adventure. I do not want to go thru that again so at any issue/slight sign of anything I am checking in and as happened a couple weeks back, I am going in to be seen. Now, my midwives are a solid hour drive from home. Thankfully we have family along the way we can go to and who are available to help with the kiddos, etc.
Speaking of the kiddos, they are doing well. James is officially 5 and is showing good maturity/understanding of rules, etc. Still having some trouble at school with focus but we are working with the teachers and him to find ways to help him. He is doing well is Tae Kwon Do and really enjoys spending time with his brother. Getting them to sleep in separate beds on school nights has become a fight. We have defined non-school nights (Friday and Saturday night) as times they can share a bed, watch an extra show before bed. Beginning to distinguish days for him I hope. I honestly suck at routines/schedules, but I know I need to for my kids sake. I think it will help me too but getting started and remaining consistent has been hard for all of us. With this new babe on the way we are going to making a lot of changes and I pray everyday that I am ready for it.
So, the list of things I "want" to do around the house and in preparation for the future gets longer and longer but right now I promise I am watching how much I do and am doing what I can to keep this baby safe.
This is a blog about many things...life, dreams, work, family, children...to name a few.

Busy days
Oh my - it has been a month since I have written eh? It's been a busy time. I feel there has been no time to "Catch up". My nights are filled with cleaning the dishes, laundry, kids .... maybe mowing the grass and general clean-up.
There is some family time in there: Just the other night Dad got the music going while I was attempting my first meal with eggplant and we danced away while chopping, mixing, cutting. James was breakdancing on the carpet while Nate was dancing in the kitchen with me, tongs in hands. He was playing with the zucchini and squash (It was nearing the end of its useable life so I had cut it up to cook) while I worked on the eggplant croquettes. I thought they turned out alright but Dan ... well, lets just say he was good, lol. So Nate is moving the veggies around with the tongs bouncing up and down in the chair. My only concern was he would bounce himself right out of the chair.
With the early mornings and late nights there isn't much time for family sharing during the week so these moments are precious. The other night I had James get on the phone with Grams and sing to her...everyday they learn new songs at school and James comes home humming them. We need to call you more often Grams! He learned this cute one about a squirrel yesterday :)
Nate is adjusting well to the longer days except for the cough. THE cough. Sigh. Don't know if its allergies, a mini colds, possibly asthma....but it breaks your heart to here this little body coughing away. We have a doctor issued nebulizer that we have orders to use. It does help, bronchially, but does nothing for the junk and juicy sounding coughs... bleh. he handles it all well enough, such a trooper, but i do worry.
We are still waiting for Nate to say more then "dat". I got him to say boat, and bird last night, and don't get me wrong, he IS talking, we just don't understand 96% of it. I don't think its a hearing issue but if he is not talking more by Christmas we will need to get some testing done to be sure. We can tell he gets frustrated when he is trying to communicate a thought and we just are not understanding. Got to give him some credit -- he knows all the sounds things make. I'll ask him to say 'kitty' and he says 'meow meow'....over and over again. lol.
James is learning his letters and practicing sounding out the written word. I really need to work with him more at home. he writes letters at school and draws lots and lots of people. Turning into an artist. He sings songs, he talks about what he learned, and he thanks me for his lunch each and everyday. He primarily eats pb&j but I've been able to slip some other fun food in there. I want to feel more creative with their lunches and for food for them but James can be such a picky eater that i fear a meltdown at school should I send stuff he won't eat....he has been known to get so upset over food to make himself throw-up. Now, he is getting better but I also don't rock the boat a whole lot.
Dan has been crazy busy at work, sick with mono, started a new diet (low-carb and has lost weight already!) and still kinda helpful around the house .... j/k, he has been good :) I'm proud of him for making the changes and am trying to work with him for my health too .... but I can't bring my self to limit the kids. James' main diet IS carbs. *sigh
All in all life is good, just very very busy. I'm enjoying the cold weather but i do not appreciate the stink bugs hanging out on my windows. Thank goodness Miss Marmalade is a hunter and Loves to get them. I watched her catch a moth in mid-air last night. No lie. She is a bit of a chunk but agile :) We're still having some issues with Mango not pee-ing in the litter pan but I think it might be a cleanliness issue. Yes, I do clean the litter pan, but it happens that more than a day can go by ....by the third night is when she gets annoyed i think. So long as we don't leave wet towels on the bathroom floor and we keep the litter clean (which James really wants to help me with) - s'all good. I do enjoy a warm kitty laying my lap at bedtime :)
Looking forward to cool nights and upcoming holidays and family! Maybe we'll slow down in January....

Changes
Lots of changes right now. I have taken on a new, and yet not new, role at work and am feeling rather isolated. I like to be around people, know whats going on.....Will I get used to this?
Speaking of being around people, due to multiple reasons we have transferred daycare of the kids up closer to home. They are now in an actual center for 10.5-11 hours a day. A part of me feels sick at this decision we made since that is a really long day! but.....ont he other hand I have two very social boys who thrive being with other kids and learning from them and their teachers. Yesterday was the first day and a teacher commented that it was like they had been there all along. Just stepped right in and picked up the rules and played games with the kids....
So, my boys will be fine. It means:
- earlier mornings for all of us (I need to be waking the boys by 6)
- Routine with packing lunches and prepping for the next day
- Dad and I commute on our own down to work (about 30-40 mins one way)
- We are constrained to returning to our home area every day in order to get the boys - no more stopping at Nana's, etc.
- It is more expensive so we are tightening our belts and are blessed by family helping us with expenses. My parents really wanted James to have the preschool experience and with this new school they have that.
- When James goes into Kindergarten next year (Yikes!) this daycare has before and after care with shuttles to all the local elementary schools so he could shuttle with them....
We're hoping a few things will happen:
1) Nate will start saying more then 'dat' - love him but I am beyond ready for him to talk!
2) James will learn to sit and pay attention. He fidgets when he is not on the go so hopefully he will learn some patience :)
3) Mommy and daddy will start hitting up the gym at work. This new schedule does open up some time for me to go (didn't go today due to sever back spasms).
4) Organization all around. Yes we'll all be tired in the evenings but hopefully we'll get into healthy routines to make our mornings less hectic.
So, it's a lot at once. Feeling isolated at work and at home (we won't be seeing extended family nearly as much and we're just as busy as before so any friends we could see will be just as hard as before -- meaning it didn't happen very often).
Plus side? My kids will make friends with other kids who do live near home so maybe, just maybe, we'll be able to reach out thru them and meet some more people in situations similar to us. Dan and I both have to work to make ends meet -- no, not paying for daycare wouldn't help -- but I do have a plan to pay down debt.....but other things keep coming up like oh, food for our bellies and shoes for our feet.
Sigh. Tough economy eh? And we are all making the best of it, one day at a time.

Confidence
Maybe it is because Nate is getting older, maybe it was due to single parenting for a week, maybe it's a change of attitude in me but I'm finding I have more confidence in myself to go and do with the kids. Run errands, take trips, go off and on our own (mom and the kids) and do :)
Being a working mom, now full time working mom, I don't get the same experiences to test that mommy power but I have been testing myself of late. taking trips on my own and getting more confident in my ability to watch the kids and have them listen.
James can be marvelous about listening and following directions. He watches out for his brother and is good about getting ready to leave. Nate -- well, he's 2. Lots of warnings and patience work best for him :)
It's nice. I mean, I like taking trips with my hubby and the kids, but it is real nice to know I can do it myself.

Daytrips
Ah, the Aquarium. We joined Aunt Beck for a trip there this past weekend. She happens to work there and knows lots of fun details and names of the animals :) I have more pics I still need to upload but here is a sample:
This was after the aquarium - same day. I just love this picture. Reminds me of a cousin of mine :) Amazing how family genes are passed!

Fascinating
I've read that children can learn their environments and even manipulate to some degree. Mini adults, sensing what role they play where and adapting their social skills to such.
Well, with Nana the boys are as they should be with Nana, knowing they are being spoiled and loving every second of it!
With us, well, they know their boundaries and boy do they know how to push buttons. Most nights we are ALL tired, and somehow we manage to survive. D has recently found the OLD Batman series with Adam West :) and James loves it! So we get home, D and the boys settle down to watch an episode while I get to work on dinner. Then we eat and have some play time :) Then we get ready for bed which includes a Thorough cleaning of our teeth, at least 2 books for each boy, and then prayers. I recently said an entire rosary to calm both myself and the boys down. It magically put Nathan to sleep, my dad would be proud, lol.
Now at daycare, the boys sound to be a bit more self sufficient, using full sentences, drawing faces, good playtime with the other boys....and James even wants privacy while in the potty! Ok, so at home James has been known to walk out into the living room, pants around his ankles, asking for a butt-wipe. He did this so often that part of a scavenger hunt at Nana's involved a clue revolving around it..... :)
I'm impressed. Ah kids, amazing.
James and Nathan for the most part get along great! They have their moments, usually when James doesn't want to be bothered which only perpetuates Nathan bothering him by some means.....but it never lasts for too long.
My favorite game right now is racing. We have this perfect circle in our house and both boys have a car (think Monster Truck size) that they push around and 'race' with. Its fun and good exercise, lol.
I think it is fabulous that the boys know their environments. I am a true sociology major at heart and am gratified to find that the environments my children are in are having a positive effect on them. I look forward to James, and even Nathan, being in school cause I feel confident that they will succeed with the tools we have been able to give them.

Birthday fun and more
The weekend started with a delicious steak dinner Friday night, yum yum and then some relaxing (been a long week). Now, I'm taking some advice from my mom and trying to slow down our weekends for both the sakes of my kids and me. Getting up Mon-Fri around 5-5:30 am and then no getting home some nights till after 6....makes for very long days.
So, we stayed in Saturday and continued work on a birthday suprise my husband and In'Laws had started the previous weekend. Pulling up carpet in the dining room, foyer, and hallways and then polishing the gorgeous hardwood floor beneath! It feels like a different house :)
James wanted to help, and was very good at wielding a hammer(under careful supervision)

No, we did not end up painting anything but that is next on the list...I think. We did however get ALL the carpet up (this pic is in the process). So many staples and nails....my fingers ache thinking about it but boy was it worth it!
Saturday night we went out with James's godparents to Denny's and had a very good linner around 3'ish...they have a claw machine in there that I gave into James to finally try because they had baby ogres in there (I want one!) and of course James pulls out a Mr. Plow on his second turn....
huh, beginners luck.
Sunday saw us finishing up the floor and then heading out to a Birthday event my hubby had planned for me :)
@ Chuckie Cheese, and yes, I did actually suggest this as an option. I think having kids has made me rethink what is fun. Just hanging and playing with them is so much fun!
We had a good crowd (thank you all!!) and I think everyone had fun too!

James posed with me for this Pic, as you can see. Not to scared of the mouse....
In the background there you see a machine, it's one of those air things where they blow things around you and you have to catch...tickets :) I was told I couldn't pick-up off the ground but nothing else was illegal, so I grabbed off the ceiling as many as i could. Oie, it was hard! I hear someone has pics or even a video of this....
I managed to grab a bunch of big tickets worth 50, 100, and 200 respectively. Sweet. I also had tickets stuck in my shirt, shorts, shoes and hair when I came out, lol.

Nate enjoyed it all but he was so overwhelmed, lol. He ended up eating(or dropping) the piece of cake he was sharing with me....oh well

So not your typical 30th birthday I suppose but I had fun. Thanks for all the tickets those that came out. Got some fun things for the kiddos :)

Boys
We've heard a few times over the past few days how energetic boys are and that they go, go, go....then drop from sheer exhaustion.
This describes my boys to a T. Won't sleep for fear of missing something. Always getting into something. The need to run outweighes any reasoning. sigh
Now, I am still working on getting energy (in fact see-ing a new doctor today) and wish I had more to give them! They would run, play, and just go all day if we would let them.
Getting them to relax usually involves the telly or books.
I did sign James up for gymnastics classes beginning in September and cannot wait! I think he is going to really enjoy it :)
Nathan is still growing and just amazes me everyday. Body parts, word recognition, people....but above all this boy loves music! Grams...piano lessons right? Seriously! Nate has good rhythm and I'm fairly sure is going to be very musical. Need to provide outlets!
So, busy busy but doing alright :)

Spring!!
Yea! Warm weather and all the lovely flowers and trees. Makes me feel good :)
Looking forward to getting outside with the kids more. Nathan is a fulltime walker now, though he still loves to be held. James can't wait to get outside and run around, drive his truck...you name it. He is one active kid and will thrive in this warm weather!
Now, on to some fun health updates.
Both boys had check-ups a couple weeks back and are doing marvelous!!

James
40 inches tall
40 lbs
All caught up on vaccines and looking good. Talking well, singing, just, right on target. Very tall, very skinny, very active, very much a 3 year old by ALL rights :)
Nathan
29 inches tall
23 lbs
Whew, eats everything and has had some success with sippy cups. We are still nursing some but I really can't guage for how much longer. Cross that bridge when we come to it. Walking strong for over a week now and trying out words here and there. Oh, and he loves to Dance! Standing up little bobble thing with arms swinging. I promise to try and take a video to post real soon. It is adorable! Music starts, he starts, music stops, he stops, lol.
Me
Up 3 pounds from a month ago but with all the birthdays and stresses...that ain't bad
Waist has stayed the same
My arms and legs have gotten smaller. I've taken to doing gymnastic type activities with kids. I'll be lying on my back on the ground and I pick them up with my arms, legs, etc....much fun and a good workout for all.
My hips keep shrinking too...meaning my butt is smaller, lol. Just got to get this waist of mine down to size....eventually.
I did go to the gym last night for the first time in 4 months...I rode a stationary bike for 10 minutes and broke out in a sweat....Oie Vey! I am soooo out of shape!

Ah well. Um, what else?
Puppy has a new home...one month ago we put out the word we just couldn't keep her anymore. it was honestly just to stressful for me. She is officially in a new home, one week now, and thriving with an older dog to show her the ropes and 2 lovely little girls to play with. Good stuff
We are still awaiting news for Dan and the new position he applied for...should know soon. Otherwise he is spending his free time playing computer games and working on his truck. Soon we will be taking turns mowing the grass and doing yard work. We have a lot of clean-up from the Winter Season that we have not gotten to yet.
So much to do and never enough time. Here's to National Gardening month! I hope to plant a tree...or at least a flower, we'll see.

One of these days
I will take over the world!! (j/k)
someday I will figure out how to upload pictures onto the computer from my new camera and get them up on this site. For now, bear with me. The kids are doing fine, we are doing fine, just very busy.
March is birthday month for us and has kept us busy. We have parties for James this weekend for the Big 3! and we had parties this past weekend for Dan celebrating the Big 3-0! Man he is old and sadly, I am not far behind him.
But anyhow, we'll be going to the pediatrician for James' annual and Nathans 9-monther on Friday and I promise to post updates afterwords! For the moment though James' blood-work came in and he looks great! Everything is right on track and he is above average for Vitamin D levels meaning he does not need to take a vitamin yet! He doesn't like gummy or chewable stuff like this yet so this was a very good thing! he is healthy, strong...a typical toddler who wants ALL the attention but does love his brother very very much.
Nathan is perfecting his walking and takes as many as 10-15 steps at a time, falls down, and immediately gets back up and walks another 10-15 steps. He is eating like a champ choosing veggies and meat over cereal and fruit/yogurt type stuff. Does NOT like mushy stuff anymore...definitely a boy of texture and with 1 full tooth in and 1 sorta in (only on the bottom) it is simply amazing to us what he gum's downs and then begs for more of! He is amazing
Otherwise working on finances, fixing up the house, and staying in good touch with family and friends fills our time.
Now, for those that don't know, we have given the pup away (almost 2 weeks now) due to stress levels of giving her proper care AND taking care of the kids and family. It was a very, very hard decision and i have a whole blog started on these emotions but have not been able to bring myself to post yet. Maybe in a few days.
She has been with family for the last week and a half but will be moving on to a new family by the weekend. We wish her the best. Truly a sweet little pup...just too much for our family right now.

Early to bed
and early to rise, that's our house now-adays. Up at 4:30, in bed by 8:30-9. Kids are in process for sleep by 7:30 most nights though of late dinner hasn't been till almost 7, something I plan to work on.
So, we (my amazing husband and I) are up very early to walk Kaylee and get some one on one time to talk, catch-up, discuss whatever is on the mind. Then we wander back inside and work on various things from cleaning up from dinner from the night before, taking showers, beginning some laundry....you name it. I've also benn fairly good at getting some sort of breakfast made (though eggs and meat is beginning to get boring) each morning that Dan and I, and sometimes the kids share.
Nathan is usually awake by 5:30..sometimes earlier, sometimes later. James is hit or miss if he will wake-up before it is time to throw him in the car and head down to nana's. On the bright side James is getting good sleep each night and is even taking a good nap most days of the week. On the weekends when schedules get a bit fuzzy you can tell by 5pm that James is exhausted and is still going for the sake of fending off sleep as long as possible. Naps will dissapate as time goes by but for now he does really need it.
Nathan..not such a good sleeper right now but were working on it. He will learn to sleep in his own bed and go to sleep on his own eventually...James did :)
Kaylee is learning our patterns and routines and fitting right in. A handful who needs a lot of attention but not so much that we can't keep up. Its good for ALL of us to be more active and get outside with her as often as we do.
So for now....this is our sudo schedule. Long days, but at least they have some sense of routine to them. Still exploring other work options for me but for once in my life I am not jumping without doing lots and lots of planning and preparing :)

O Christmas Tree....
O Christmas Tree....I do believe I will be buying an artificial one for the years to come :)
Why do you ask?
Well, it all started with a bug. A little guy, barely moving, easy to smoosh. Alright, no big deal.
Saw another one the next day in a different spot with smaller bugs alongside it....alright, smoosh smoosh dead. I live in a rural area and some bugs/small rodents are to be expected cause hey, our house is warm and attractive to them. And we d have a dog now...maybe she brought something in...
but don't misunderstand me. The thought of bugs in my house chills me to the core and bugs the heck out of me. I do not like bugs being inside and will do everything I can to kill/prevent etc. They are allowed outside only and I try real hard to teach my kids that they are natural and do good things...until they get in our house.
Ok, so we wake up yesterday morning to DOZENS of the little bugs lying around on their backs, legs flaying, defenitily not doing well. What the?
I call an exterminator and have someone come out yesterday afternoon....now, I had vacuumed, cleaned up every bug I saw in the AM before going to work. When I got home in the afternoon there were tons of them again. This time I have the exterminator there and he verifys they are not roaches or ticks or...well, actually he had no idea what they were. Some were smaller and dying, others were a bit bigger with wings (probably related), also dying. He was bewildered but said he didn't think they were harmful. Some sort of beetle most likely...
Asked about firewood, maybe they came in with that?
Nope, no fires since before Christmas.
Hhmmmm....Christmas Tree?
Said we had the tree since Thanksgiving weekend and these bugs were less then 3 days old.
I asked if our pup could have brought them?
Maybe he says but highly unlikely...
Suspicious
We happen to check the pantry to see if they were into the food and find grain weevils. Oh goodie. So I sign us up to have service for the next year, every quarter someone comes out to check things over, spray seasonally, etc with full warranty until the next check. For my sanitys sake I was already feeling better. So we scheduled for him to come back the next day (give me time to get the pantry cleaned out and otherwise).
I round up my neighbor to help with the kids and go to work cleaning. Majority of the dying bugs are in the kitchen but I did find some in the hallway, boys room, and bathroom. I get all cleaned up, thank my neighbor, and settle down with the boys to chill after all the excitement....
This is when I notice teeny weeny baby bugs coming from the direction of the tree.....eh? After further inspection I verify they are indeed coming from the tree. I make short work of pulling off ornaments and cleaning off stuff and then unceremoniously dump the tree out the front door (closest exit) admist dog barking, Nathan trying to get out and James jumping around....(Dan was not home yet and I just couldn't wait)
Meanwhile shaking bugs onto the floor ALL over the place. YUCK! I quickly close the door, vacuum, and after making sure James and Kaylee are good gather up Nathan for a quick shower since I felt disgusting! After a minute in the shower Dad walks in and I fill him and ....*sigh So happy Dan is home.
Find a few more little buggers in the area the tree was but not nearly the quantity I was see-ing. As of this morning, no new sightings.
Thank God!
They had hatched on the tree apparently; gestation of a few weeks and mind you, we keep our house fairly kool so the process wasn't too fast; then proceeded to hop to new ground, only to have no other trees nearby...nothing nearby in fact and so were dying. So odd. I'm hoping to verify with the exterminator today when he comes to spray (yes, still doing this) but we feel fairly certain we took care of the issue.
So, with it all said and done...I am done with Live Christmas Trees and we will be getting an artificial one now. Had Artificial as a kid with my parents and have thought over the years it would be more environmentally sound of us to get one.....who would of thought that some bugs would sway me.
