Nathaniel

4 months on Wednesday and my my, he is no small child. Holds his head up consistently of his own accord, responds to his name, giggles his head off and just has the brightest smile. James has taken to kissing Nathan on the face, bopping heads with him, tickling his belly (James can get him to giggle- very rewarding) and wanting to help in every aspect of care for him. Cute.

Now, we went to the pediatrician on Friday for Nathan and he checks out very healthy :) Dr. was impressed with strength of neck muscles and leg muscles (had him stand up). Checked him over and gave the approval to begin some solid foods and upgrade to a bigger carseat....gone are the days of the carrier (he's just to big!) so....here are the stats:

25.5 inches tall
17lbs 13.5 ounces
42cm head

the carrier carseat holds up to 26inches and 20 lbs. Yikes! No wonder it feels like his feet are hanging over the edge. We have a convertible carseat from James so fear not, he will stay facing backward but will have a bit more leg room :) besides, he never stays sleeping in the carseat once you go to move him, this will just make shopping trips a bit more interesting until he is sitting up on his own better.

So, solid food you ask? Why so young you ask? I know you are supposed to wait till 6 months to introduce but Nathan has just shown fascination with everything we eat. He avidly watches his brother and happily takes the pro-offered raisin from James into his mouth...What! Ack! :) Yes we stopped this and told James why he needs to wait, whew, disaster averted for the moment.

Dr. says because of his size, his drooling, and his waking up in the middle of the night 2-3 times starved where just a few weeks ago he was not are all signs that he is ready and gave the ok. Orange veggies first (sweet potatoes, squash) then pears, peaches...then introduce grains/cereals after 6 months when veggies have been well established.

So, Nathan is on to solids but we plan to take it slow. He is very interested in the squash we have been trying thus far and it has helped with the sleeping longer stretches....my baby is growing up sooo fast!

Elijah might be just as big at 4 mos, seeing how he was almost 15 at 2mos!

At the store I've put Luke in the cart and Elijah in a wrap. Works well most of the time. Just started trying the mei tai with him and it works well.
